So it kind of just hit me…

I’ve got this website all about making dubstep, dubstep software, dubstep production, artists and more… But why even make dubstep in the first place? I mean, there’s a lot of it out there, so why bother? If you’re into producing dubstep, then this question is probably a no-brainer and you’re shaking your head that I would even bother answer it – BUT – what if you’re someone who is on the fence about starting down the path to producing their own dubstep music?

Sometimes we want to do something, but need that extra push. Well, that applies to me, at least, I shouldn’t speak for anyone else – but you get the picture. So, if you’re THINKING about making your own dubstep tracks, but you don’t think there’s room for you, or if you don’t feel confidant, or you don’t think you’ll be any good at it – keep reading, my friend, because you might be wrong!

7. It’s FUN.

Dubstep is still a young genre, despite people who try to claim that it is dead. It can be a lot of fun to make music that’s popular, but still gaining traction. By now, most people know what dubstep is but there are still a lot who can’t really identify those dub sounds that have infiltrated the mainstream. Basically, you can pick up a killer sound kit and some basic dubstep production skills and you’ll be amazed at how authentic your music can sound. It’s a lot of fun, even, to just play around with the production programs you can download, whether or not you have aspirations of taking it to the next level.

6. It’s not very hard to get started.

This is a point that we try to hit home very often at dubMakes. The thing is, most people won’t even try new things because they’re worried it will be too hard. Guess what – everything’s hard until you know how to do it – then it’s easy! A journey of a thousand miles begins by getting yourself a dope beat making program and starting to produce some dubstep. Guess what, a lot of people still don’t know that it’s not THAT hard to learn to make sick electronic tracks. When you’re in a room of people, and they’re listeing to your tunes, you’re basically in charge.

Real talk – it feels good to create art. Yes, dubstep is art. Yes, dubstep production is art. Yes, you can be an artist and learn to use music to express yourself and all that good stuff.

You know what happens when a genre of music gets really hot? People get paid more and more money to make that music, if you’re talented you can sell your tracks online either for other artists to use, to be used in films and games, or even just straight up to fans if you know how to market your music. Don’t get me wrong, if you plan on selling your stuff and getting paid it’s going to take a lot of work, but if you’re smart about it you can do this, if that’s your goal! Lots of people just want to make music for fun, too. Having a few hundred people play your tracks is a cool feeling, especially when you get good feedback. Sure, thousands of people feels better and thousands of people paying to hear it feels the best, but one step at a time right?
