Best Dubstep Songs For New Listeners
Are you just getting into dubstep?
Here’s what are widely considered to be some of the “greatest hits” of the genre. (I’m sure some of you will disagree, looking forward to hearing your own selections in the comments section!)
We’ve included videos so you can hear them all on this page, so grab a seat and stay for a while as dubMakers.com takes you through some of the best dubstep songs that are also fairly easily accessible for anyone who’s just starting to bite into the giant, delicious chunk of awesomeness known as dubstep music.
1: Skrillex-Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites
This is probably the most popular dubstep track by the most popular artist out there, so it’s no wonder that it’s at the top of this chart. Respect where respect is due, the guy’s got Grammy awards. Other types of EMD find their way into this track, including house and electro. All around a really solid track, and one of the most recognizable ones in the genre. A generation was inspired by stairway to pick up the guitar, and a new generation is inspired by Sprites to learn about dubstep production.
2. Rihanna – Rude Boy (Chrispy Remix)
You’ve probably heard the original Rihanna song before, hate it or not love it (or don’t care) you can’t deny this Chrispy remix. It’s through remixes that dubstep has really made a name for itself, and we have to give the genre credit for making a lot of today’s hits a lot more tolerable. What do you think of this remix, got a better one we should put up on this list? Let us know!
3. La Roux – In For The Kill (Skrillex Remix)
Here’s another remix, and another appearance from Skrillex. Don’t worry, we’ll mix things up a bit more for the rest of this list of the best dubstep songs. We’re aware that this song has been remixed about a million and a half times (Who’s counting), but this is quite possible the best one. The best one we’ve heard, anyways. We’d love one of our readers to submit their own remix that blows it out of the water. Yeah, that’s a challenge! For now, enjoy this one…
4. Dizzee Rascal – Bonkers (Doorly Remix)
Dizzee Rascal is a great MC who’s been putting out great stuff for years, and this remix really elevates it to the next level.
5. Burial – Untrue
People will debate about whether or not Burial should be on our dubstep list here, but this track is unique from the rest on the list and it’s great so if you want to debate if it should be here, fine – that’s what the comments are for – but at least treat yourself and press play first!
So that wraps it up for now, but we’ll be adding more tracks as they’re suggested to let us know ..
